What makes the RADO brand so extraordinary. In 1917 the brothers Schlup founded the watch movement manufacture Schlup & Co. The company only produced base movements for other watch companies, until they originated the subsidiary RADO Watch Co.
Towards the end of the 50's, the company started to produce only watches of the RADO brand. As in the title I think I may have come across a very early Rado. The case is fairly beat up, there is some sort of plating on it but I'm not sure if it's chrome plated or steel. It's quite small as was the fashion back then, Looking inside the case back it is stamped as schulp & co.
It looks like a standard 17 jewel movement which incidentally is running very well. The dial has a little bit of patina but it looks great actually is with age.The Exacto springs to mind although this one does not have a model name. We have "Rado" on the dial in the old stylised form. At the bottom half of the dial is "swiss" (only)and case back has "ANTIMAGNETIC, INCABLOC, STAINLESS STEEL, WATER PROOF, STAINLESS STEEL, RADO, SWISS". Inside case stamped with SCHLUP & CO. The watch is in excellent running condition and keeps perfect time. I think this watch proves to be the connecting link between schlup & co and Rado. Very Rare to find this watch. For more detail about the condition refer the picture. Dear Buyers, you need to understand; all antique watches I cannot guarantee excellent running and absolute time keeping accuracy even they are in good running condition also in some rare occasions - may require additional adjustment of accuracy.
